Description (Service)

The Youth Justice Committee Program is an alternative to the court process for young persons aged 12-17 inclusive.

Program offers the young person the opportunity to repair the harm that they may have caused to a person, an organization or the community
Volunteers facilitate a restorative justice meeting with the young person, their supporters, the person harmed, and their supporters to talk about what happened, clear up any misunderstandings or questions, and decide upon how the young person can make up for their actions
Once the agreement has been fulfilled, there is no further action taken. Should the young person not fulfill the agreement, they are returned to the referral source (police services or Crown Attorney) to be dealt with further
