Description:

The Wasa-Nabin Program is a self-development initiative aimed at Urban Indigenous youth (ages 13-18) who are at-risk or facing challenges in their lives. This program helps youth develop essential skills such as goal setting, leadership, and decision-making to promote healthier lifestyles and personal success. Through culturally appropriate activities and support services, Wasa-Nabin encourages positive growth in interpersonal relationships, mental well-being, and physical health, ultimately empowering youth to overcome challenges and make informed choices for their futures.

Objective:

To support at-risk Indigenous youth by providing culturally relevant resources and services that build leadership, resilience, and personal empowerment. The program focuses on improving interpersonal skills, enhancing self-esteem, and guiding youth to make healthy, informed decisions that lead to successful futures.

Program Services:

• Youth Justice - Street Wolf: Advocacy and support for youth in the justice system, helping them navigate legal challenges.
• Homework Club: Academic support to help youth succeed in their studies.
• Movie Nights: Social events promoting community building and cultural engagement.
• Medicine Walks: Cultural outings focused on learning about traditional medicines and their healing properties.
• Cooking & Baking Workshops: Skill-building activities that promote healthy eating and life skills.
