Description (Service) | Our services are available to anyone of any age or gender identity living in Kawartha Lakes, Minden, and Haliburton, who identifies being a victim/survivor of crime. We respect that many victims are not interested in reporting crimes to police, or need support in doing so. Empowering victims and survivors of crime and tragic circumstances with emotional and/or practical support and resources to cope with the impact of victimization. Early assistance and support, whether in-person or by telephone, may assist individuals to cope by reducing victimization, potential re-victimization, and empowering victims on their journey to recovery. Programs Include: Tragic Circumstance Assistance (TCA): TCA helps with the costs of cleanup in the immediate aftermath of a suicide. When police engage Victim Services for support following a suicide, TCA services will be offered and arranged through Crime Scene Cleaners. Emotional support and practical assistance following the suicide will also be provided. TCA can be arranged through Victim Services when:
Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario: The Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario (VCAO) Program provides support for individuals affected by crime and tragic circumstance that is client-centered and culturally-competent. Staff work in partnership with Police, Emergency Services, and other community service providers to meet the immediate needs of individuals who have been victimized as a result of a crime or tragic circumstance. Navigating the initial stages of any crisis can be stressful and confusing. Staff or a team of volunteers can offer the following:
Victim Quick Response Program+ (VQRP+): The Victim Quick Response Program+ (VQRP+) provides immediate support to victims of crime. The program may offer financial assistance to victims of violent crime who require immediate assistance, when not available through other sources.
