| Duties | This is a flexible volunteering opportunity for people interested in helping a local, older individual, who may be experiencing loneliness. Volunteers ease the burden of loneliness by providing friendship, company and conversation either in the comfort of the client's home or though short social outings in the community. Sometimes people sit and chat over a cup of coffee, or they may play board games, watch TV or go out to a cafe. Commitment level is up to the volunteer; one time, occasional and/or temporary volunteers are welcome. The relationship between the volunteer and client can promote confidence, health and well being, and provide them with a new friendship. This activity will help expand you social circle, meet new people and make a difference in the live of another person. | |||
