Do you have a passion for gardening and have a few hours to spare? If so then this flexible volunteer gardener position is for you. This position will help local, older people who want to keep on top of their gardens and/or lawns but need help from the community to do so. 
 
Volunteers gardeners are needed to assist with maintenance of gardens and lawns when they can. This could include: light gardening, weeding, lawn cutting and/or planting on a one time, occasional or temporary basis. 
 
Usually, volunteer gardeners will carry out their tasks alone, but may be with direction from the person needing support.

This is a flexible volunteering opportunity for people interested in helping out a local, older individual who may no longer be able to go grocery shopping without support. This service can make a big difference to older individuals and can help these residents to remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible. 
 
Volunteers in this role will provide grocery shopping assistance at local food stores, which includes providing transportation with or without clients to the local stores, and assisting clients by bringing groceries inside their home for them, on a one time, occasional and temporary basis.

Big Brothers Traditional Program - A Big Brother is matched with a Little Brother, ensuring they have similar interests to spend one-to-one time together to talk, play ball, watch a movie or just hang out together.  
 
Big Sisters Traditional Program - A Big Sister is matched with a Little Sister ensuring they have similar interests to spend one-to-one time together, developing a friendship and engage in mutually desired activities.  
 
Couples for Kids - Volunteer with your partner or spouse and be matched to a Little Brother or Little Sister to give the gift of friendship to a child.  
 
In-School Mentoring- The program takes place at the child’s school, during the school year. The mentor spends one hour per week doing a fun activity or just talking with a child who could use a friend. Employers are encouraged to give employees the time during the work day to volunteer. 
 
Boys Club for boys 9-12 years of age - The group meets Tuesday's at 6:30 at Connaught Public School. It includes a wide variety of recreational activities. Call for locations and times. 
 
Cops, Kids and Communities - Officers, Auxiliary Officers and Administrative Staff from Collingwood and the Huronia West OPP detachments have joined forces with BBBS to allow children to spend time doing fun, healthy activities such as bowling, swimming and touring the OPP and fire stations while promoting the basic principles of respect, understanding, healthy eating and an active lifestyle. 
 
Homework Club - Currently operates on Tuesday and Thursday after school in Collingwood. Children in the BBBS program are matched to high school helpers who work one to one under the BBBS staff supervision. Healthy snacks are provided. Call for locations and times. 
 
Summer Camp Programs - Clients who might not otherwise have an opportunity to experience camp life or to travel outside their region are given priority but program is accessible to any client. 
 
Behind the scenes - There are many committee and project roles for volunteers who have different schedules and different assets to bring to the table. Some shorter term projects include arranging our yearly raffle (donations, tickets), working on furthering our endowment fund project, working on furthering our capital project for a larger and owned office space, Bowl for Kids Support to work on planning items for our big bowling event, creation of our signature lifesaver matchbooks. Craigleith Heritage Depot
Museum Volunteer- Our museum collection continues to grow and The Craigleith Heritage Depot requires assistance in maintaining and researching artifacts. This volunteer would assist in photography, organization, research and creating finding aids.  
 
The collections volunteer will assist with all or some of these tasks 
• creating on a computer finding aids for subjects  
• photographing or scanning artifacts  
• working on special programmes related to research/geneology/history 
• researching artifacts 
 
The collections volunteer will be provided training on the existing resources and how to use databases and on-line resources. We seek a bi-weekly or weekly commitment of a minimum of 2-3 hours Wednesday afternoon/evening.
Craigleith Heritage Depot

The Craigleith Heritage Depot continuously collects information on ALL aspects of the history of The Blue Mountains. The research volunteer will assist with: 
 
• the development of our vertical files  
• research topics for upcoming exhibits

Marketing/Media Volunteer- We are seeking a Craigleith Heritage Depot Booster to deliver posters/flyers, and to attend outreach events with programme materials. We seek an outgoing person who is comfortable in public settings and representing the site in a welcoming and professional manner. This individual will speak on our behalf to community groups and provide information on our site and its resources. 
 
The Marketing/Media Volunteer will help with all or some of these tasks 
 
• delivery of flyers/brochures and information throughout the South Georgian Bay Area 
• research and seek out new venues for our information 
• attend outreach events as an ambassador for the site 
• speak to community groups to engage interest and use of our resources

CIBC Run for the Cure, Canadian Cancer Society
As the Volunteer Run Director – Logistics your time will be spent managing and empowering your committee to rally support and participants, as well as driving the logistical elements of the CIBC Run for the Cure. 
While collaborating with your Co-Volunteer Run Director and the CCS staff, you will lead a team of volunteers who will develop and execute a site plan, organize a 1km and 5km route, and recruit a team of volunteers to support all local Run activities. 
You will collaborate with your Co-Volunteer Run Director to lead meetings, motivate your committee, and act as a local ambassador for the organization. You will assist the CCS staff in vacant committee positions and work with your fellow committee members to fill any voids. You will keep the Run site’s fundraising goal top of mind by working with committee members to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner 
To ensure your success as Run Director – Logistics you will have the constant support of the CCS staff who will answer your questions, provide guidance and assistance when necessary, and connect you with other Run Leaders.
