
PHSS is seeking volunteer Board Members and welcomes applicants who have a strong desire to support PHSS’ mission. At this time, PHSS is recruiting Board Members with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Information technology
- Finance
- Human Resources
- Communications and Public Relations
- Government Relations

Board Member nominations are based on three fundamental requirements:
- their commitment to the mission, vision, support principles and strategic direction of PHSS (PHSS Vision and Mission);
- their acceptance of the role and obligations of a PHSS Board Member;
- and, their skills, knowledge and experience, which contribute to the overall capability of the PHSS Board to perform all of its functions
Responsibilities include:
- attending and participating in Board meetings regularly (in person and hybrid), as well as events and activities, which enhance PHSS’ profile and public image;
- working collaboratively with other Board Members and PHSS senior managers;
- encouraging open communication and respectful interaction;
- contributing to the governance of PHSS;
- serving as a member of at least one Board Committee or holding an Officer position;
- and, embracing PHSS’ mission, vision, values, board policies and strategic direction fully.



- Welcome and walk through our visitors as we show and tell the Avro Arrow Full Scale Replica and other historical artifacts.
- Our tours are guided but with the help of QR Codes that display specific details of the artifacts.
- Give a brief history chat of the Arrow's purpose, expectations and highlights.
- Chat with our fellow visitors, bond and make new connections!



The South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre provides volunteer opportunities to the South Georgian Bay region.
Current programs offering volunteer opportunities include:
- mental health programs
- physical exercise groups
- nutrition education
- chronic disease management groups
- social support groups, hobbies and crafts groups, and more
Eligibility: 16 years and older

- Empathetic listeners who are able to provide inclusive, non-judgmental support to callers representing a variety of ages, identities, and concerns
- Call centre operates 24/7, and we actively recruit both day and night shifts
- Day shifts are 4 hours
- Overnight shifts are 8 hours




- Provide weekly companionship to client of Breaking Down Barriers.
- Assist with activities like arts & crafts, cooking, scrapbooking, weaving and Friendship Café
- Meet for conversation, maybe go for an outing and just be a friendly face to someone who may otherwise be isolated.

The Marketing/Media Volunteer will help with all or some of these tasks
• delivery of flyers/brochures and information throughout the South Georgian Bay Area
• research and seek out new venues for our information
• attend outreach events as an ambassador for the site
• speak to community groups to engage interest and use of our resources
The marketing/media volunteer will be provided training on our site and resources. We seek a monthly commitment of a minimum of 2-3 hours any day/evening of the week.

As a Humane Education Volunteer Team Member, you would deliver presentations (60-75 minutes in length) primarily to local schools. The content for presentations will cover the Ontario SPCA mission and reflect humane education`s goal to inspire compassion, empathy, and respect for all animals, inspiring a connection with animals.
AnimalSmart™ presentations take a student-centred approach, aiming to foster meaningful conversations about animals through discussions, videos, and activities with curriculum connections.
Previous teaching, presenting or experience working in a school setting would be an asset.
-Have good working knowledge of PowerPoint, Google Classroom, and other presentation software.
-Ability to clearly communicate instructions to students.
-Must provide a clear Criminal and Judicial Matters Check.
-A vehicle in good working order will be required for this role.
-Must reside within our Animal Centre communities (York, Durham, Barrie, Lennox & Addington, Leeds & Grenville, Midland, Muskoka, Orangeville, Orillia, Renfrew County, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry, & Sudbury.
-Must be able to provide daytime availability (during school hours).
-Must be available to deliver 4 presentations a month.
-Access to a personal tech device on a secure Wi-Fi network.



Volunteers visit seniors' centres, hospitals and schools with properly evaluated dogs, no less than 1 year old, providing residents and patients the companionship of a pet.
