The Event Chair plays an important role in ensuring a smooth and successful event. Your excellent people skills will be needed to develop and maintain relationships with staff, volunteers, sponsors and members of the community, whereas your extensive project management skills will enable you to plan and oversee the event from start to finish.

The Receptionist is the front-line person representing and providing the first impression of our organization to the public. This role is integral to the smooth running of our shelter. 
 
This role requires a high-level of enthusiasm, hospitality, and a passion for getting things done. 
 
The GTHS Receptionist greets and welcomes the public as they arrive at the shelter. The Receptionist will also process purchases, accept donations, answer the telephone, take messages and answer questions as needed. 
GTHS is full of activity, with a vibrant and energetic team. We are looking for someone who has an outgoing personality, with multi-tasking skills.  
 
Duties Include: 
• Providing guidance and paperwork to customers who are using our services (adoption, stray walk in, surrenders, donations, etc.) 
• Supporting the coordination, administration and execution of adoptions. 
• Day to day inventory of Shelter merchandise including branded materials and animal food, and report to supervisor to ensure supplies are stocked at all times 
• Monitor the GTHS info email inbox and respond to inquiries or escalate as required  
• Create and execute a welcoming experience for guests who visit our shelter  
• Cash management including daily cash reconciliation 
• Follow shelter procedures e.g Walk-Ins, Phone, Email
South Georgian Bay (SGB) SubRegion Alliance
South Georgian Bay
The South Georgian Bay Sub Region Alliance (SGBA) is seeking members to participate on the newly founded Community Advisory Council. The volunteer must be someone who has had (themselves or a family member) interaction with community health or wellness organizations in the South Georgian Bay region within the last 1-2 years. 
 
Volunteer members would be expected to:
     
  • provide feedback on the ideas for initiatives and programs to promote and enhance the wellness of the community 
  • be a collaborative, positive and rational force for the enhancement of high quality services 
  • attend quarterly (4x/year) meetings (can attend via teleconference but minimum of 2 in-person meetings per year is required)

Our handy participant toolkit allows you to reach out to people in your family and social networks giving them a chance to create lasting, positive change in our community. Donations will be tracked on your personal collection form and will be eligible for an official tax receipt. All donations will support the United Way Simcoe Muskoka Community Fund helping our region to address tough issues like poverty, accessibility, inclusivity, and inadequate supports for our children and youth.

The GTHS serves a large geographic area and our community transporter helps us to reach out to our neighbouring municipalities. Duties includes promo material drop offs, animal transports, coin box pickups and special events tasks. The community 
transporter will also be asked to assist with transporting to and from our satellite adoption locations.

OTF volunteers review and recommend projects for funding in Ontario’s communities. Over 200 volunteers bring diverse perspectives and knowledge from regions across the province. As public appointees, OTF volunteers are stewards of public funds and work to ensure a broad range of perspectives are represented in the 16 Grant Review Teams that inform grant-making decisions.

Assisting seniors who may not have filed a tax return by tax deadline and who do not have the financial means to pay for this help. This volunteer position would be on an 'as needed' and 'when available to assist seniors throughout the year who may have CRA(Canada Revenue Agency) questions. If needed, training could be provided by local professional accounting firm. This volunteer position is not to complete tax returns during tax season.

Do you have a passion for gardening and have a few hours to spare? If so then this flexible volunteer gardener position is for you. This position will help local, older people who want to keep on top of their gardens and/or lawns but need help from the community to do so. 
 
Volunteers gardeners are needed to assist with maintenance of gardens and lawns when they can. This could include: light gardening, weeding, lawn cutting and/or planting on a one time, occasional or temporary basis. 
 
Usually, volunteer gardeners will carry out their tasks alone, but may be with direction from the person needing support.
