The Canadian Cancer Society’s Wheels of Hope volunteer driver program is looking for volunteer drivers to help residents in your community.

If you, or someone you know, is looking to fill some time in your day, love to drive and want to support people with cancer, please consider signing up to volunteer drive for the Wheels of Hope program.

As a volunteer driver, you can give the gift of a ride to people with cancer who need help getting to and from their life-saving cancer treatments and other appointments. Mileage reimbursement or tax receipt is provided.

What are the volunteer requirements?

·         Monday to Friday availability. A half day a week or a few days a month ongoing preferably for at least six months. (The program is very flexible—they will work around your holidays and other commitments).

·         Valid driver license with three or less demerits and drive a 100% smoke-free vehicle.

·         Be willing to undergo a criminal background check and provide references.

Volunteer drivers assist with deliveries of food boxes to distribution sites (Collingwood, Clearview and Wasaga Beach) and/or individuals in the surrounding communities.  
 
Volunteers help with packing fruits and vegetables for monthly good food box orders

Deliver donated food to Individuals and families in South Georgian Bay. 
Willingness to build joyful relationships!

• Arrive at the Meal Source at the prearranged time.  
• Deliver meals in the order they appear on the route sheet/book. 
• Converse with client to check on client’s well being. 
• Report any problems or concerns encountered in carrying out duties to Home and Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce.

• Provide rides for seniors for the Day Away program and appointments.
• Pick up and drop off clients at a scheduled time

• Providing long and/or short-distance rides for social purposes and non-emergency medical appointments to clients in Grey-Bruce 

Help to deliver meals to residents in your community for the meals on wheels program.

• Drive clients to designated destinations 
• Assist clients to and from vehicle 
• Report any concerns of clients with deteriorating health and/or other needs to the Program Coordinator 
• Complete all required training and attend on-going additional training sessions as needed 
• Report to the Transportation Coordinator for all scheduling and availability
