The Catulpa Community Support Services’ Board is responsible for effective governance of the agency through oversight of strategic planning, fiscal review and determination of mission related policy. It is not responsible for fundraising, personnel, programs, services, curricula or budgets. Volunteer Directors provide special skills and knowledge, (finance, law, social services, healthcare, etc.) within the Board setting.  
 
Meetings take place in Barrie, ON six times annually for approximately three hours per meeting. Successful Board of Director applicants are appointed for a term of three years and provided a mentor.

The Walking Partner is responsible for providing program support to staff and participants. The Walking Partner will assist the coordinator as needed (i.e. set-up and clean-up) in order to ensure the effective delivery of the program. This volunteer will also provide companionship and support to participants by developing positive and encouraging relationships with them, ultimately helping participants to maximize their experience in the program.

FoodFit is a 12-week program that combines fun, hands-on cooking sessions and food-based activities with take-home recipes, easy-to-understand nutrition information, group exercise, shared meals, self-directed individual and group goal-setting, and reflection and feedback loops that monitor and reinforce individual and group progress. 
 
The ideal volunteer should be comfortable working in a busy kitchen, have some previous exposure to food skills programming and food safety, and have excellent motivational skills. They should be able to commit to the 12 weeks of the program working with the same FoodFit team each week. The volunteer should respect people’s privacy and lived experience and hold no prejudices towards people of different socio-economic backgrounds or cultures from their own. 
 
Duties include: 
• Assisting the facilitator in setting up the kitchen and program space each week  
• Assist the facilitator in preparing a healthy snack for the FoodFit team each week 
• Working with participants in the kitchen: providing assistance reading recipes/converting measurements, supervising food safety and hygiene, supervising knife handling and kitchen safety practices, encouraging all participants to get involved in cooking/preparing food, create a model “healthy plate” for each week’s meals, etc.  
• Assisting the facilitator and participants in kitchen clean up and encouraging all participants to “share the load”  
• Participate in a 30 minute walk and encourage all participants to “get moving” each week 
• Follow all instructions from the FoodFit facilitator and be ready to “pitch in” 
• Motivate participants to achieve success in the program and lead by example 
• May be asked to assist participants in completing pre- and end-program questionnaires (e.g. interviewing participants and recording their answers for them if they have writing/language barriers) or assisting with program participant intakes (measuring waist/height, flexibility tests, blood pressure, pulse/heart rate)

Museum Volunteer- Our museum collection continues to grow and The Craigleith Heritage Depot requires assistance in maintaining and researching artifacts. This volunteer would assist in photography, organization, research and creating finding aids.

Summer Camp Programs - Clients who might not otherwise have an opportunity to experience camp life or to travel outside their region are given priority but program is accessible to any client.

Gearing up for a busy season, we are currently seeking eager volunteers who will join our Piping Plover Guardian Family for the bird’s critical breeding season (June & July).

• Monitoring the birds while they are nesting and recording important behaviours

The incumbent of this position is responsible for conducting a needs assessment to determine the needs of the clients. The PDA Responder will provide, as appropriate to agreements with the local authorities, Emergency Social Services (ESS) for relief, referral services and direct assistance for recovery, as well as, works with the PDA Supervisor to plan and organize ongoing preparedness activities. They may be asked to deliver services during a large-scale emergency response in their community.  
 
Working Conditions:  
• Potential for responding in disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odours, smoke, humidity, vulnerable clients). These environments have the potential to affect the overall wellbeing of the responders on site.  
• The incumbent may need to stand for several hours.  
• The incumbent may need to lift up to 20 kg of relief supplies during preparedness activities and during response.  
• Ability to respond during non-traditional hours (i.e. late night or weekends) and long hours of work in a demanding context.

With full training, volunteers teach our student athletes how to ski/snowboard. We need recreational skiers and snowboarders who can donate their time to help us deliver quality alpine lessons.

To accept donations from the public at an assigned location for the duration of the mutually agreed shift. 
Report to an appointed location to receive Tag tray, coin box, supplies, permission letter. Tag at the selected location for the duration of the mutually agreed shift. Return the Tag tray, coin box, supplies, permission letter to the appointed location. Volunteers must wear the Identity Badge supplied by the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County while tagging. The Badge must be returned with the coin box at the end of the shift.
